January 2016 Favorites

January flew by for me this year, it seemed to go in the blink of an eye.  That said, here are some favorites of mine from January.  I’ve found that I want to break out of the stuff I’ve been using over and over again since around mid year last year – I’ve been feeling a little stuck so I started looking through and pulling out some old (but not forgotten) makeup. Too Faced Cocoa Contour:  I’ve had this since summer 2015 and used it a little bit but then put it away.  Lately, I’ve been into a more subtle contour; I really love this palette because it not only has a cool toned contour shade that isn’t too dark, it also has a warm toned bronzer, and a brightening yellow powder for under the eyes or to chisel out your contour.  It has a highlighter but I’m not too crazy about it – it’s got chunky glitters; so while I don’t use it much, the other three shades make this palette definitely worth getting or, in my case, pulling out of the archives. MAC Prep & Prime Fix +:  I’ve had this forever but only recently started using it regularly.  This is a great spray prior to makeup application but my preference is to use Fix + after I’m done with my makeup.  It’s really outstanding in melding all the powders on the face and finishing things off.  It can also be used to moisten an eyeshadow brush to help shimmery eyeshadows stick and intensify their shine. Dior Airflash Spray foundation:  I bought this foundation for my wedding and haven’t used it since; until recently.  Dior Airflash is a bit tricky but I really love the way my…

Beauty Favorites of 2015

I found some really great products during the year and they instantly became favorites.  Here’s my list of the things I truly enjoyed using and will continue to enjoy.  With beauty trends constantly evolving, I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store! Skin care Soap & Glory Peaches & Clean cleansing milk:  Great at removing makeup; read my review here. GlamGlow Thirstymud Hydrating Treatment:  Hands down, my favorite mask; read about it here. GlamGlow Supercleanse Daily Clearing Cleanser:  I love the minty smell of this cleanser in the morning, it’s cooling and my skin loves it! Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair serum:  Game changer as far as my skin is concerned; read my review here. Makeup Too Faced Born This Way foundation:  Holy grail status achieved; read my review here. MAC Prep & Prime Fix Plus:  Makes all the powders on my face melt together and look awesome.  Also good for helping glittery eyeshadows to stick and pop on the lids. Makeup Geek eyeshadows:  Affordable, high quality shadows sold in pans so you can customize in a Z Palette. Maybelline Lash Sensational mascara:  Another holy grail product, this mascara works really well for me.  The formula is not too dry or wet, the brush separates the lashes beautifully, and I don’t have to curl my lashes when I use this – the wand does all the work. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector:  Beautiful highlighters, regardless of which shade you select.  Read my thoughts on Champagne Pop here. ColourPop Cosmetics:  I constantly rave about this line.  Read my thoughts here, here, and here. Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour:  Love this palette, read about it here and here. Clinique Cheek Pop blushes:  The beauty of the packaging matches the beauty of these…

August Favorites

I’m thrilled that we’ve made our way through August and are headed into Fall!  That said, I’d like to share a few of my obsessions from this last month.     Too Faced Born This Way Foundation:  This foundation  is SO good!  It’s probably the best liquid foundation I’ve used to date.  It makes my skin look like skin, provides medium to full coverage, and lasts all day, even through a workout.  LOVE!  Dior Capture Totale Eyes:  I’m really enjoying this serum.  I figured since I invest so much money in makeup, I should do the same for skincare.  The texture of the skin around my eyes improved within a few days. Clinique Cheek Pop in Berry Pop:  This blush gives a natural flush to the cheeks and is buildable.  Clinique’s packaging is absolutely spot on – the flower is so beautiful and there’s just something about the transparent compact that makes it eye candy at it’s finest. Makeup Forever Artist Shadows:  These shadows are so buttery and pigmented, and they blend like a dream.  They’re sold as singles; the cool thing is, when you buy these at Sephora, you can get either a two shadow or three shadow palette to put them in, which is great for travel or on the go.  The colors pictured here are M870, M546, and M928. Becca x Jacalyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed – Champagne Pop:  OMG, this highlighter is so amazing, you can be seen from space when you wear this!  It’s shimmery without being glittery and gives you a lovely, dewy glow.  It’s a beautiful champagne gold that’ll work with all skin tones. This is exclusive to…
