Beauty Steals

I love a good bargain, and I especially love a good makeup bargain.  Lately I’ve been on an affordable makeup binge.  While I do love my high end products, I also think you can find really good quality makeup on a budget.  Below is a list of my favorite affordable makeup finds – some old, some new, all loved.

Style & Lipstick: An Over 40 Beauty Blog

Wet ‘n Wild Photofocus Foundation – $5.99:  If you enjoy a medium, buildable to full coverage foundation, this little gem is the one for you!  There are 20 shade selections, which is great for drugstore.  What I truly appreciate about this foundation is the finish, which is not too matte nor too dewy, and it photographs well.  It gives great coverage, lasts for about 9 – 10 hours on my combination dry/oily skin, and it’s cruelty free to boot.  The one con is that it transfers a bit.  I use a sticky primer (such as the Nivea Sensitive Skin Shave Balm) to help keep it in place.  At such a great price point this is a beauty steal indeed!

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte & Inti-matte Lipsticks – $7.49  A lightweight matte formula that rivals high end lipsticks, these are highly pigmented and extremely comfortable matte options.  There’s a large range of colors and finishes (i.e., metallics) available.  While these aren’t long wear like a matte liquid lipstick, they’re still very nice without the drying effect. Shades shown are Siren in Scarlet, and Almond Rose.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso – $10.49:  Probably the most beautiful peach toned blush at the drugstore, Luminoso leaves a beautiful peachy, glowing finish on the skin.  It’s a great year round blush but is especially beautiful on tanned skin.  This is what makes it a perfect summertime blush when it’s all about bronzed glowing skin.

L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Glow & Pro-Matte Foundations – $12.99:  Another really great set of foundations.  These are great standalone foundations whether you’re preference is a matte or glowy finish; my preference is to combine them for a satin finish that truly lasts for hours.

Maybelline FIT Me Loose Setting Powder – $7.99.  This setting powder is excellent at perfecting the skin.  It’s lightweight, great for setting foundation, concealer, and works well for baking (if you’re into that).  It also does a pretty good job at absorbing the oils.  While it doesn’t come in a translucent (mostly colorless), it does come in 8 shades; finding a match shouldn’t be too difficult.

Kathleen Lights x ColourPop Dream St. Palette – $16:  This palette is a collaboration between Kathleen Lights, one of my favorite beauty vloggers, and ColourPop, one of my favorite brands.  First, the packaging – it’s rose gold, swirly goodness!  The shadows in this palette lean to rose gold, and were very well thought out and cohesive.  I love the pops of green in two finishes, the mattes are super pigmented, soft, and apply well.  The metallics are so beautiful, soft, and buttery.  This palette is my go to when I don’t want to think too hard about creating a stunning eye look.  Hurry and snag one of these up, it’s a limited release!  Colors shown in the swatch are (top to bottom) Twinkle (first row, far right), Shooting Star (first row, far left), and Water Bearer (second row, second shadow from left).

ColourPop Yes, Please! Palette – $16:  This is a warm shadow lover’s dream!  This is a sunset in a palette, I am really drawn to the yellow shadow in the palette.  It’s very pigmented, and can be worn opaque with minimal building up, or sheered out with minimal blending.  These shadows are so beautiful, and work well with any eye color.  I also love that the ColourPop metallic shadows really don’t need any help from a fix spray or water, but can be worn that way to create a truly foiled look.  Shades swatched are (top to bottom) Butter Cake (second row, second left), Bling (first row, far right), Mischief (third row, first shadow).

ColourPop No Filter Concealer – $6:  Probably one of the best and most opaque concealers available today, I am blown away by the coverage it provides.  If you’re a fan of the Tarte Shape tape, this is a close dupe without being quite as drying.  While you only get .14 oz, I can forgive that because it is so good.  There are 15 shades to choose from however, one thing to note is that this concealer does dry a bit darker than it appears in the tube, so select your shade accordingly. Shade shown is Medium 30.

Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Liquid Lip Color– $7.99:  Probably the most long wearing, yet comfortable liquid lipsticks, high end or affordable.  I was pleasantly surprised with the wear time of this liquid lipstick.  It’s so lightweight and non-transferable I forget I’m wearing it.  I also forget it’s from the drugstore.  Shade shown is Fighter.

ColourPop Creme Gel Liners – $5:  While it may appear I’m being sponsored by ColourPop, trust me, I’m not; they have no idea I exist, lol. That being said, my last beauty treasure is one of the best liners I’ve come across.  These babies stay put, and that’s no easy feat given I always have leakage on the outer corner of my eyes.  They are stunning and ColourPop has just about every shade in the rainbow available.

So these are some of the beauty steals I’ve come across that have just blown me away without blowing up my wallet.  What are some of your beauty steals?

You got some great bargains there, love the eyeshadows. I haven’t been buying much lately because I got a lot of new stuff in my beauty advent calendar, but my best beauty steal has always been nail varnish. There are lots of bargain ranges which are just as good as expensive ones, and it suits everybody regardless of what you look like.
