Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit: That Glow

Style & Lipstick ABH That Glow Highlighter Kit

Highlighter.  So beautiful and so addictive.  On some days I find I have to restrain myself otherwise I’ll powder my entire face with them.  If you find a good one, it’s like putting unicorn dust on your face, it takes your breath away.  When I first saw the Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kits on Instagram, I was very intrigued.  I already own one of the ABH Illuminators in Riviera (not to mention a few Becca highlighters) but hell, what’s another 4?  When I swatched them, I was taken.  ABH has put out another Glow Kit in Gleam which are cooler pink tones; I decided to purchase That Glow because they’re warm toned and, as you may have already figured out, I’m all about the warmer colors.

These four highlighters are so beautiful and have a decent range from a whitish gold to a warm bronze.  My two favorite are Bubbly and Dripping in Gold, they fall in the middle, but all 4 of them are stunning.  The highlighters are finely milled, apply smoothly, and illuminate so beautifully, giving your skin a dewy appearance that doesn’t smack people over the head. However, if you want your cheekbones to be seen from space, you can build them up or apply them damp. I’ll admit, the packaging is somewhat bulky, but a bonus (for me) is that the pans are removable so if I’m traveling, I can pop one out and take it in a Z Pallette.

If you want to know more about highlighting for us beauties over 40, I’m doing some research on that subject at the moment, so stay tuned; I’ll be posting about it once I’ve pulled my thoughts and findings together.

Let’s move on to the swatches:

  • Sunburst:  It’s the palest of gold colors, it almost appears white on my skin.  I apply this one with a light hand because it can get away from me pretty quickly.  For you folks with fair skin tones, Sunburst will shine so beautifully on you.
  • Golden Bronze:  Because I’m deeper skin toned I can get away with this one during the winter, but I think I’ll hang on to it for the summer months when I want a nice bronzy glow.  I likely won’t use this as a highlight but rather as a topper for bronzer or warm toned blush.
  • Bubbly:  My favorite shade in the palette, this one has a lovely champagne tone and gives off a beautiful glow that makes me want to cry.  Not really but, well, you know…
  • Dripping in Gold:  Another favorite, this one is a deeper gold than Sunburst and is great when I go for a super warm look on my eyes and cheeks.

Those are my thoughts on this product; what sort of highlighter/illuminator do you use?
