The saying goes, style isn’t made, it’s born.
I disagree with that sentiment – I had to be taught how to be stylish. I had the best teacher a girl could possibly have, my Mom. She taught me from a very young age what it meant to be a lady – that a woman is as strong as she is stylish regardless of age. She also taught me that style isn’t just about what you wear, but how you present yourself; and she did it all on a shoestring budget.
I’ve always loved dressing up and I’ve always had a passion for makeup. When I was a young girl, I had dress up Friday’s where I’d wear a lovely dress to school, usually handmade by my Mom. Growing up in a strict household, I never got to wear makeup, not until I left for college. Now as an adult, I absolutely love playing with makeup – yes playing. It’s my artistic outlet, and has been since my 20’s; I still play with makeup, well into my 40’s. Let’s face it, age is really just a number and I don’t think there’s any shame with wearing glitter and colorful makeup; there are no boundaries, no matter what your age!
The goal of Style & Lipstick is to express what it is to be an empowered, stylish woman; of living a life filled with grace, comfort, and surrounding yourself with beauty.
I want to share what I’ve learned over the years; style and beauty isn’t about age, but about how well you put it all together and how good you feel wearing it. We’ve survived our 20’s, blossomed in our 30’s, but it doesn’t end there. My self perception is very different than I thought it would be in my 40’s – I’ve never felt better!
Come and take part in this journey with me.
