Great Skincare Finds | Over 40 Beauty

Lately, I’ve become a fiend about skin care. So much so, I put in a lot of time researching, reading, and getting opinions from my friends and family (mostly my sister).  Since giving in to my passion for makeup, I’ve come to realize that great skin care only makes makeup apply and look so much better; plus, all those selfies have brought to light the fact that great skin care is really where it’s at. That being said, I’ve come across some really great skincare finds in the last several months, but they’ve been pretty pricey.  I tend to think that when in comes to skincare, you get what you pay for in most instances; and because you’re throwing down lots and lots of dimes, it bears some time to research, read reviews, and talk to people around you to find out what they use and recommend.  Or you can cut to the chase and read blogs like mine, lol. So, enough dilly dallying, let’s get to it. La Mer The Renewal Oil This product is by far, the star of my morning skin care routine.  It’s pricey at $130 for .5 oz, but my skin loves it!  This oil does wonders for controlling the oils in my T zone.  An oxymoron, I know, but it really does help keep my skin hydrated so it doesn’t feel it needs to over produce oil.  It balances my skin out in a way I’ve never experienced before.  I was a skeptic, thinking that an oil would be too heavy but my skin just soaks it up.  Infused with the La Mer “Miracle Broth”, which is derived from kelp and algae…

La Mer ‘The Cleansing Oil’ Review

Taking makeup off has become serious business for me these days. What is at times a chore, becomes a luxury using The Cleansing Oil from La Mer.  It was a gracious gift from my sister and while I am very appreciative of it, I have to be honest, I tried really, really hard not to like The Cleansing Oil.  It’s pricey, coming in at $90 for a 6.7 oz bottle.  You massage it into the skin, allowing the oils to break makeup down, then add a little bit of water to change the oil to more of a cleansing milk. The most obvious reason not to like it, is the smell. So why do I love it so much? Oh, the smell – which I must admit, I was a little put off by.  I honestly thought I might have gotten a bad one because it smelled of oxidized oil.  I went back to Nordstrom to try the tester, to see if it also smelled that way.  It does.  Like the La Mer Soft Fluid Foundation, it has a unique scent that takes some time to appreciate.  The benefits make them easier to take; luckily I actually like the smell of it now. It doesn’t take all of my eye makeup off.  And yet, I conveniently overlook it. I was smugly annoyed at the fact that when I first tried The Cleansing Oil, it didn’t take all of my eye makeup off.   I can live with the smell but for 90 bucks this had damned well better take it all off.  Keep in mind, I had never tried a cleansing oil (the concept was kind of weird to me).  So I decided to also try the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm…
