I’ve Lost 100 Pounds!

Sadly, it’s the same 25 pounds, 4 times over. I’ve lived a life full of diet sins and vices, and I’ve been overweight for a majority of it.  I did successfully drop some pounds and was at my ideal weight once when I was 17.  It lasted all of 20 minutes before I started to gain it back. Food and I have been at odds all of my life. It’s never been a healthy relationship; I’ve constantly struggled with eating and drinking things I know are terrible for me.  Then there’s the struggle that comes with deprivation from dieting.  Yeah, food and I have a toxic relationship – it looks and feels like love but really, those donuts I love so much are actually out to kill me. And let’s not forget about working out. I’ve put in many, many, many uncomfortable hours and lots of money into gyms and personal trainers.  I’ve met with success, but only when I truly mentally commit.  I haven’t had the gumption to commit in these last couple of years.  I’ve crossed over into “one-derland” (the 100’s on a scale) 4 times in the last 10 years; then, for whatever reason, the commitment fades, and the weight creeps back on. Next August I turn 50, which is a big deal to me. I round the corner to the next half of my life next year and I feel an overhaul is due.   I want to enter the rest of my life healthy and fit; thankfully, all of that personal training means I know exactly what I have to do to get there. I want to resolve my…

Urban Decay Moondust Palette Review

I really love glitter and I really enjoy Urban Decay products.  That said, it’s a given that I would cave and get the Moondust eye shadow palette, and that I would love it as much as I do.  To start, I’m a big fan of the Moondust eye shadow singles, even though I only own Solstice, a unique duo chrome of raspberry shadow with green glitter, making it the crown jewel of my makeup collection (yes, really).  I did not however, think I needed an entire palette of Moondust eye shadows; I had no intention of buying it when it released.  When I swatched the palette at my local Ulta, I was really impressed by the pigmentation of the eye shadows, and more so because the glitter stayed put without help from a glitter glue. Now, I know what you may be thinking…glitter over 40? It’s widely believed those of us with aging or wrinkled skin should steer clear of sparkle and shimmer because it will emphasize texture.  Well, I disagree.  I think it’s perfectly fine to have some sparkle here and there, even glitter.  You just have to be strategic about product and placement, that’s all.  For instance, the glitters in the Moondust palette are very fine, with the shadows themselves being soft and buttery, and make for an incredibly easy application and wear, even for us over 40 gals (and guys).  The shine and shimmer in these shadows isn’t garish in the least, it’s more like beautifully made shimmery fabric. The glittery packaging is, as we’ve come to expect from Urban Decay, very beautiful and representative of what’s inside.  It has a nice hard plastic case with magnetic…
